Hello from Broome Ag in the Classroom!

Picture
Hello from all of us here at Ag in the Classroom!! 🌼🌿🐄🌷

The Broome Ag In the Classroom (AITC) is a program through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County. The AITC program helps bring agriculture alive in classrooms throughout Broome, Tioga, and Chenango counties. Since 2015, we have visited hundreds of classrooms, and reached thousands of students with our programming. Each lesson helps students gain a greater appreciate for agriculture and their food systems through engaging, hands-on lessons. We currently work with 14 school districts across the Southern Tier, but are happy to be able to share many of our favorite activities with you virtually!

We will be sharing activities for you to do at home and videos for you to watch!

Watch the video below for a quick message from all of us, and scroll down to learn something new about your Ag in the Classroom teachers!

From, Mr. Brian, Ms. Nicki, Ms. Atwood, and Ms. Nicky.

Elementary Ag in the Classroom

Hi everyone!

I grew up in Lisle NY, right next to a Dairy Farm. I loved visiting the farm and seeing all the cows and horses. It was so exciting every Spring, when they would start tilling the fields and getting ready to plant the corn or hay fields. Now, I live right down the road from my childhood home and still enjoy the same scenery. We have 2 horses (Nellie and Lucy), 6 chickens, a big white dog named, Freddy, and 2 indoor cats (Jack and Mittens).

Howdy everyone! This is Miss Atwood here and I wanted to say that I miss you all very much!

I grew up in Whitney Point, on my family's horse🐎 farm. Lofty Meadows, is where I spend a lot of my time! ⏰ I have been riding horses before I could walk, and continue riding still
🐎. I love to compete at barrel races on the weekends with all of my horse friends and family. I have four horses and we will be having a baby horse soon (a foal!). I also have two dogs!

Elementary Ag in the Classroom

Hello all!
I grew up on her family dairy farm in Whitney Point, NY where I currently resides with my husband and three children. We now raise beef cattle, chickens, and horses. I received my Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2007. My undergraduate degree is in Health and Human Development from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2002. I have taught physical education in Harpursville Central School District. I have also been involved in coaching field hockey from the Youth age to High School, CNY and WNY Club teams and USA Nexus program. I currently coach Varsity field hockey in my home district of Whitney Point. Spending time with my family and traveling are my favorite things to do.

Ag in the Classroom

Brian does a lot of the work 'behind the scenes' to make Ag in the Classroom happen. He also visits classrooms and teaches when he is able.

Brian was raised on a dairy farm and now owns and operates a 'funny farm' with his wife and three children in Chenango Forks. His family raises sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, donkeys, and more.

He kindly lets us 'babysit' his animals for the day to bring to classrooms!
